LASD Deputy Trevor Kirk Found Guilty

T he whole country watched the footage by a brave bystander as LA sheriff deputies once again used racist and violent policing tactics in the AV, this time against an elderly Black family at WinCo Foods in Lancaster.

People across the region and the world expressed outrage after watching Trevor Kirk manhandling and body slamming the ailing woman by her neck, while her partner called out that she has cancer. Which resulted in fractured limbs on top of her severe asthma and a number of other serious health conditions. Deputy Kirk attacked her in retaliation to her exercising her civil rights by filming the incident.

Cancel the Contract reached out to Sheriff Luna about the incident which brought to attention to the incident and prompted to Sheriff Luna to hold a press conference to address community concerns.

CTCAV has been supporting the couple from day one. CTC, along with a broad coalition of Antelope Valley organizations and leaders, took a stand for justice by holding a press conference and unity rally, followed by a peaceful march on WinCo that ultimately led to the store shutting down. Through this collective action, we were able to bring media and worldwide attention to the issue.

CTC is pleased with the verdict, and are glad justice has prevailed. We must keep fighting for justice. We must not let go of the reins, especially during these difficult times, as our civil rights are under attack.
